Q.If my home security alarm system is activated how long will it take for a patrol guard to get here?
Upon receiving an alarm activation the RAA Security Monitoring Centre will dispatch a patrol if it has been requested in your response plan. Arrival times will vary according to location and traffic however RAA Security works with a number of patrol companies to make sure the quickest time is achieved.
Q.What happens if my alarm goes off?
In the event of an alarm the RAA Security Monitoring Centre will contact the property to see if it is a false alarm verified by a pre agreed code. If there is no response our operators will then telephone your nominated contacts and advise of the alarm activation then take the necessary steps in actioning it.
Q.Where is your monitoring station based?
The RAA Security Monitoring Centre is located within the RAA Headquarters on Richmond Road at Mile End and is the only ASIAL Grade A1 monitoring centre in Adelaide (highest industry rating).

Q.Does a monitored home security alarm system really reduce the likelihood of being burglarised?
Yes. A home security alarm system reduces the likelihood of being burglarised and the monitoring ensures a response.
Q.Can I still have my home security alarm system monitored by RAA even if it was installed by someone else?
Yes. RAA can monitor home security alarm systems installed by other companies (subject to your system being compatible for monitoring by the our Monitoring Emergency Response Centre).
Q.Will I get a discount on my home insurance?
Yes. With an RAA monitored home security alarm system you will save 25% on your RAA home contents insurance.
Q.What do I need to do if I move out of the property?
If your home security alarm system is monitored and you want to cancel the service you will need to advise us in writing stating your request. Under the terms and conditions of our agreement this to be no less than 3 months. Your home security alarm system will also need to be decommissioned. This process simply ensures your system does not send any alarm signals to the RAA Security Monitoring Centre and does not affect the operation of the system in any way.
Q.Should I test my home security alarm system?
Yes. RAA recommends that all monitored clients should walk test their home security alarm system every 6 months.

Q.If I have a pet, can I still have an alarm?
A: Yes. Your home security alarm system can be tailored to include pet sensors which allow small pets to roam free throughout your home whilst the system is armed. Using advanced technology the pet sensors analyse the mass of the pet and ignores animals under 25kgs.
Q.If the power goes out will the alarm still work?
Yes. All RAA home security alarm systems will automatically switch to back up battery and if monitored will contact the control room.
Q.If I have ADSL broadband will it affect my home security alarm system?
Yes, but this can be rectified with the installation of a remote central splitter/filter. This device is normally located in the roof space and needs to be installed by a qualified Austel licensed technician. RAA can arrange this service where required.
Q.How much warranty does a newly installed home security alarm system have?
All RAA home security alarm systems are backed by a 3 year parts and labour warranty.
Q. If my alarm goes off by accident what should I do?
You should advise the RAA Security Monitoring Centre as soon as possible.

We recommend that all customers have an annual maintenance service in accordance with Australian standards.
