As you say, the State Government doesn't refund the Emergency Services Levy when you get a refund on your vehicle registration.

To be fair, you should be refunded the portion of the levy you haven't used, otherwise you're paying more than other motorists.

I'm just going through this process now. My Magna died 1 day after the rego was renewed. I cancelled the rego and find that the emergency services levy is not refunded. So when I register my new(second hand)car this week I have to pay it again! Why is this? Don't the government get enough out of us motorists? Can't we do something about this?
