Recommended Child Restraints

6 Months to 4 Years

Rearward/Forward Facing Child Restraints

Children between the age of 6 months and 4 years must use EITHER an approved rearward facing child restraint OR an approved forward facing child restraint with an inbuilt harness.

Children under 4 years of age must only travel in the rear row of a motor vehicle. If your vehicle does not have a rear row, this does not apply. Note: When using in a single row vehicle, such as a utility or van, a rearward facing child restraint cannot be used in the front seat where there is a passenger airbag.

RAA recommends using a Baby Safety Capsule for the first 6 months and then moving the child into a convertible child safety seat that will accommodate the child rearward until at least 12 months of age. When using a convertible child safety seat, use the seat rearward facing until the child reaches the maximum weight for this mode (older seats) or meets the shoulder height marker for the forward facing mode. Just because a child has turned 6 months of age does not mean the child is ready to travel forward facing. A child safety seat should be used until the child outgrows the seat. A child has outgrown the seat when they have reached the maximum weight/height for the restraint or the maximum shoulder height marker. This normally occurs around 4 years of age.

Infra Secure Cosi Create resized

The Cosi Compact is a compact seat that is great for smaller vehicles and still has the height required to see a child through to 4 years of age. Great choice when used with other restraints due to the smaller base. The Cosi Compact is only available in the black cover, but the insert comes in a wide range of colours.

The seat is easy to fit with its large opening, no rebound bar and only one seatbelt path for both rearward and forward facing mode. The seat also comes with a SafeGrip Belt Clamp which can be used to hold the seat firm.

Safe-n-Sound Compaq MKII

Birth to approx. 12-30 months rearward facing, then forward facing until approx. 4 years.

RRP: $419.00    Member’s price: $379.00

Safe-n-Sound Compaq MKII

The Safe-n-Sound Compaq MKII seat is a compact seat that is great for use with multiple restraints due to the narrow design and easy access to the adjoining seatbelt buckles. Although a compact shell, it has the height required to see a child through to 4 years of age which is an improvement on recent compact seat models.

The seat allows for the child to be rearward facing until a minimum of around 12 months and a maximum of around 30 months. The seat features seatbelt lock offs for the sash part of the seatbelt, which helps keep the seat firm when fitted in the forward facing position.

The Compaq MKII features the easy harness system where the harnesses are automatically adjusted either from the front or back of the seat, making it very user friendly. This model has excellent padding for newborn babies.

Infa Secure Kompressor 4 Treo ISOFIX

Birth to approx. 12 months rearward facing, then forward facing until approx. 4 years.

RRP: $480.00       Member's price: $430.00

Infa Secure Kompressor 4 Treo ISOFIXThe Kompressor seat is similar to that of the Cosi Compact but a luxury model with the ISOFIX compatible option. When used next to a booster, the small base makes the seatbelt very accessible and, like the Cosi Compact, it does not take up much room when rear facing, making it suitable for use in small to medium cars.

The Kompressor is one of the easiest ISOFIX compatible seats to fit with access to the connecting straps from the interior of the shell – meaning it is easily accessed from both sides of the vehicle. The ISOFIX connectors feature a unique pull-loop release, which makes uninstalling the seat much easier than counter-intuitive push-to-pull button release connectors. When not in use, the ISOFIX compatible connectors are stowed in purpose built, hidden compartments inside the seat base, which means no messy bags hanging on your back seats.

Safe-n-Sound Millenia SICT

Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT) - Head Protection features a dual layer head protection which minimises the energy generated in a side impact crash.

The air cushions on the sides of the seat maximise head protection by dramatically reducing side impact forces.

Active Head Restraint (AHR) - features deeper side wings that shield and contain your child’s head in a side impact crash. AHR grows with your child, working with SICT to contain your child’s head and to minimise impact forces.

All adjustments for the headrest and harness are made from the front of the seat, eliminating the need for the seat to be removed from the car for each adjustment.

The seat features seatbelt lock off clips for the sash part of the seatbelt that help to keep the seat firm when fitted in the forward facing position.

ISOFIX compatible seat and features Safe-n-Sound’s new Thermo 5 fabric.
