Home Alarm Maintenance
Keep you home security system in tip-top condition
Just like your car, your home security system is a technical piece of equipment and requires servicing to ensure it continues to function as it should. RAA recommends that all security systems have an annual maintenance service in accordance with Australian standards. Many homeowners have a smoke detector as a component of their home security system and it is important to ensure it is working at its optimum level. A working smoke detector not only provides an early warning to occupants of an actual fire, but a monitored smoke detector provides additional peace of mind – particularly when you may not be at home.
Each alarm system maintenance check consists of the following:
- Check the operation of all detection devices
- Check the operation of all activating outputs, audible, visual and warning devices
- Check the communication of all alarm inputs to the control room
- Remove main supply and measure battery voltage after 10 mins
- Check batteries and enclosures - terminals for tightness, cleanliness and corrosion
- Check that there are no damaged, stressed or overheated components
- Check all visible wiring and conduits for damage
- Check all equipment for ventilation
- Check the operation and integrity of the remote signalling equipment
