Road worker safety is every ones responsibility. For road workers, the hazards of having their office on the road can be extreme – even life-threatening.
In 2009, the RAA launched a road worker safety campaign, “It’s a two-way street” aimed at creating a safer working environment for road workers.
The campaign is designed to build awareness of the different types of roadwork sites road users face and the responsibilities of motorists when passing these worksites. “It’s a two-way street” will also reinforce the role of workers in ensuring they use the correct safety devices and operate in a safe environment. Kicking off with a feature in samotor, the campaign is being promoted via RAA offices and through billboard and television advertising. A brochure also provides advice on how motorists should approach different types of worksites.
