RAA Inspections
If you are thinking of buying a used car, RAA has experienced and highly trained vehicle inspectors who will inspect the vehicle prior to purchase. They operate from mobile vans and inspections can be carried out at a dealer's premises or any other suitable location in the metropolitan area. Our range of inspections, also available at RAA's Vehicle Inspection Centre at Mile End, cater for all members’ inspection needs.
New protections for used car buyers - Cooling Off rights effective 29th November 2010
A two day "cool off" period will apply to used vehicle (and demonstrator) sales as of 29th November 2010. Potential used vehicle purchasers will have 2 clear business days to double think their buying decision. Although this cooling off period gives used car buyers more flexibility, it is always best to book your pre-purchase inspection before you sign any contracts.

Pre-Purchase Inspections
Total Care Inspection
If you prefer to leave nothing to chance, the Total Care inspection will suit your needs. This inspection includes a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle engine, mechanics and body, a check of the Vehicle Securities Register, Stolen Vehicles and Wrecked and Written-off Vehicle Registers to see if the vehicle is recorded in these databases.
A Total Care Inspection also includes a telephone consultation with an RAA Technical Advisor, who will review the inspection report, the Government Register information and any other pertinent data on the vehicle.
Mechanical
Assesses the mechanical condition of a vehicle. This type of inspection is for prospective buyers who have some knowledge of vehicles and are comfortable assessing the condition of a vehicle's body.
This checklist details the components that are checked in each of the pre-purchase inspections available.
Follow-up Inspections
Performed after an RAA Inspection has been conducted and work has been carried out on the vehicle to check that reported items have been repaired properly.
End of Warranty Inspection
Having bought a new or used vehicle, problems may still occur during the warranty period. These may not be evident to the driver and can often be costly.
It is therefore important that you have these problems identified during the warranty period, so that you can get the full warranty entitlement.
