Defensive Driving
Each and every one of us can can benefit from a defensive driving course.
Worthwhile defensive driving courses should aim to equip you with skills to avoid, as far as practicable, being involved in a crash or emergency situation. They focus on hazard perception, driver awareness, crash avoidance space, vehicle control and knowledge of road rules and regulations.
Other topics covered should include driver attitude, identifying hazards and risks, rules of observation, braking techniques, and interaction with other road users.

If you're serious about minimising the risk of crash involvement, and cutting costs through efficient driving techniques, whether driving in the country or the city, a defensive driving course is highly recommended.
Be aware of the type of course you undertake though, as research has shown that so-called defensive driving courses that focus on 'brake and evade' techniques, can actually increase the risk of crashes, injury and damage due to over-confidence or over-extension of the vehicle and driver's capabilities.
