Car safety ratings
New car safety ratings
ANCAP (the Australia New Car Assessment Program) is an important safety initiative supported by RAA.
It involves crash testing new models of vehicles – under strictly controlled conditions – to compare the injury levels (and survival prospects) of occupants involved in front and side impacts.
Check out the ANCAP rating of any new car you’re considering buying.
Used car safety ratings
You’ve got your sights set on a car. It’s the right price, it looks good and it’s the perfect size. But there’s one critical factor you may not have thought about… is it safe?
RAA's Used Car Safety Ratings can help you choose a safe car in the second-hand vehicle market. It’s worth taking a few minutes to read this brochure and find out how the vehicle you are considering purchasing compares on the safety front. Those few minutes could save a life – your own, your passengers’ or that of another road user.

Number plate theft
Number plate theft
Every year, thousands of number plates are stolen and then fitted to vehicles to commit other crimes, such as petrol theft and house break-ins.
RAA, in partnership with SA Police and Neighbourhood Watch, offers members free, tamper-resistant screws to help prevent these thefts. To take up this offer, call 8202 4689 or enquire online.
We’ll then put you in touch with your nearest participating RAA Approved Repairer who’ll fit the screws for you free of charge. If you’re a country member, we’ll send you a set of tamper-resistant screws.
